KUALA LUMPUR, 26 Nov: East Ipoh MP, Lim Kit Siang praised the determination and strength of the Green Gathering (Himpunan Hijau) participants who have consistently urged the Federal Government to immediately terminate the Lynas rare earth project in Kuantan, Pahang.
While dubbing the participants of the Gathering who spent the night at Independence Square ‘New History Makers of Malaysia’, Kit Siang said that the people are now more aware of expressing the meaning of independence in the defending of rights.
“After 55 years of independence, the people have brought new meaning to Independence Square.”
“This is the Rakyat’s Independence Square.”
“After the 13th General Elections (GE-13), let’s build a new government and a new, prosperous Malaysia, together with the rakyat,” he said in a brief speech in front of 400 participants this morning.
Also present at the brief gathering were several other Pakatan Rakyat leaders. Among them were Selayang MP, William Leong, Selangor Exco, Ronnie Liu, Batu Gagah MP, Fong Poh Kuan and Sungai Siput MP, Dr D Jeyakumar.
However, the group did not manage to penetrate the areas of the Square which were tightly controlled by the police and Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) officers.
