ANAK ‘Caning’ Protest, Urging Isa’s Resignation

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 Dec: The Save Felda Movement (GSF) successfully submitted a memorandum at Wisma Felda, Jalan Semarak, urging Felda’s Chairman, Tan Sri Isa Samad to immediately resign to save Felda.

GSF Chairman, Mazlan Aliman lead the delegation of six individuals who were allowed by the police to submit the memorandum to two Felda staff.

Mazlan who was met after that said that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak still has a chance to save Felda by not renewing Isa’s contract that will expire on December 31.

“We sent the letter just now. Isa Samad’s absence shows his cowardice and irresponsibility.

“The PM should consider to not renew Isa’s contract and save the current crisis.

“I think of them (supporters of Isa) as friends and not foe. We are all children of settlers…they are friends,” he said.

The four claims of the memorandum are:

* Isa must resign immediately,

* return Felda land to the people,

* stop the sale of palm oil to Jewish companies

* stop political interference in Felda

Several Pakatan Rakyat leaders and activists such as the PAS Vice-President Salahuddin Ayub, PAS Central Committee Members Dr Hatta Ramli and Idris Ahmad, also attended the gathering.

Also seen at the rally was the former Cabinet Minister Tan Sri Kadir Sheikh Fadzil, as well as activists from the Coalition of Muslim Students Malaysia (Gamis) and Kelatan Royalty NGO ‘R’.

The gathering in front of Wisma Felda was attended by 1,000 GSF supporters accompanied by 300 supporters from Felda Youth Council Malaysia (MBFB).

GSF supporters were chanting ‘Undur Isa Samad’ (Resign Isa Samad) and ‘Halau Isa Samad’ (Get Rid of Isa Samad) apart from ‘canning’ a replica statue with a mask bearing Isa’s GSF supporters chanting ‘Isa Samad Back’ and ‘Kick Isa Samad’ other ‘spank’ replica statue of Jesus face mask applied.

The rally dismissed at 3.30pm after the memorandum was submitted.

Kuala Lumpur Deputy Chied of Police, Datuk Amar Singh was satisfied with how the gathering carried out and he thanked booth parties for successfully controlling the situation.
