Gombak, 7 Dec: Mosque institutions should intensify efforts to train the young generation of today to become competent successors and substitutes in the future.
His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Selangor, Sulltan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said this at the opening of Al-Hidayah Mosque in Melawati Park, Gombak, here, today.
“I want mosque institutions to actively train the younger generation in providing sufficient knowledge to become successors in the future,” he said.
Accompanying the Sultan was the Selangor Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as well as State Executive Council Members, Members of Parliament and Selangor Assemblymen.
He also said that Mosque Committee Members should be honest, competent, and professional as well as being able to work closely to develop programmes that can be prosperous to the mosque.
“Mosque Committee Members should also ensure that there are no elements of heresy in the parish that can be harmful to Muslims in the State of Selangor,” he said.
Meanwhile, about 1,000 people and residents here joined the Sultan in the Yasin reading, the Tahlil and the benediction in conjunction with the Sultan’s 67th birthday before commencing with the Friday prayers.
The Al-Hidayah Mosque was completed on the 6th of November 2012, at a cost of RM7 million, to replace the old mosque that could no longer accommodate the ever increasing number of people.
Meanwhile, in his speech, the Director of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Datuk Marzuki Hussin said that the mosque built will continuously operate and will not only be limited to certain times such as prayer times.
“The mosque is hoped to be an institution that can fulfil worship functions holistically as demanded by the Shariah,” he said.
