118 MPSJ Employees Receive Appreciation

SUBANG JAYA, 19 JAN: To appreciate the contributions, hard work and commitment of their employees, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) held a Distinguished Service Award ceremony for the year 2012 located at the MPSJ stadium recently.

A total of 118 MPSJ staff of various ranks and departments received awards which was presented by MPSJ President, Datuk Asmawi Kasbi.

The ceremony this time was organised by the MPSJ Sports and Welfare Club (KSK) and was also attended by MPSJ Councillors and all its employees.

An award recipient, MPSJ Engineering Director Ismail Shafie said that the recognition given to him will be his commitment and inspiration to improve the quality of his service.

“I thank MPSJ and with the existence of this award ceremony, it is hoped that other employees of MPSJ will compete together and show quality performance this year,” said Ismail who started service at MPSJ in November 2009.

At the same ceremony, MPSJ also celebrated six of its employees from various departments who are retiring this year.

A public servant who will retire this February, Kum Kwee Seng, 59, felt a mixture of bittersweet feelings because he will be ending his service with MPSJ.

He said that he has seen a lot of changes made during his 36 years of service by MPSJ, among the changes made was to successfully make Subang Jaya one of the areas that are thriving in Selangor.

“I used to work as a cleaner before being employed by MPSJ and I am very grateful to them,” said Kum who had received the Distinguished Service Award three times before.

Meanwhile, Asmawi in his officiating speech said that this recognition is a measure of MPSJ to create a work culture and environment that emphasises performance and excellence.

He said, apart from the awards, the MPSJ management also provides many incentives to its employees.

“For example, our officers and employees are also nominated and receive awards and recognition at the state and national level,” he said.
