KUALA LUMPUR, 7 Jan: The management of Merdeka Stadium is still not giving permission to Pakatan Rakyat to use the historical location for the People’s Uprising Assembly which will take place this Saturday.

Today, Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat (PR) delegates who showed up at the Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) headquarters to present the application to use the stadium were not attended to by PNB management.

This happened even though PR wants to pay rent for the usage of the stadium on January 12.The stadium is managed by PNB.

PAS Youth Council Secretary, Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil said that they were disappointed by the treatment given by the management of the stadium although the had approached them well.

He said that previously, the stadium management did not respond to their request for a meeting.

Their delegation also comprised of the Angkatan Muda Malaysia (AMK) Secretary, Julailey Jemadi who waited at the PNB lobby for two hours but still failed to meet with the stadium management.

After waiting for almost two hours, not even one representative came to meet with us and gave us the excuse that they were in a meeting,” he said.

“This is a democratic country, they should not disallow seeing that our actions were in accordance to what was recommended by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to hold (the assembly) at the stadium.

“We are not asking for it to be free, we will pay the rent for the stadium for the day,” he said.
