PETALING JAYA, 25 JAN: PKR Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that there are no differences of opinion regarding the issue of the word ‘Allah’ between Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and component party, PAS.

Anwar explained that the stance announced by PR is based on the results achieved together during the Pakatan Rakyat Leader’s Meeting which was attended by PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

“Our decision is based on what was agreed upon and presented during the joint meeting.

“The Syura Council (PAS) also decided that the usage (of the word ‘Allah’) is permitted, but in compliance with several detailed conditions.

“The matter was not presented in a joint meeting previously, however it is clear that the decision is based on the same stance,” stressed Anwar in a media conference at the PKR headquarters here this afternoon.

In the meantime, he regretted that Umno-BN controlled media has tried to portray that PAS and PR component parties are not in line regarding the issue.

“They are so concerned with the decision of the Syura Council, so I encouraged them to review other decisions as well.

He also added that Umno-BN should research and broadcast their findings once they discuss the details of this decision.

The Pakatan Rakyat Supreme Leader’s Council in early January announced that the word ‘Allah’ can be used by non-Muslims.
