BATANG LUPAR, 14 Jan: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is accused of trying to protect his cronies by continuing to blame the Selangor State Government regarding the water supply in Ampang, Cheras and Gombak for the past two weeks.

Commenting on the matter, Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the State Government is always committed in helping to provide treated water to the people of Selangor.

According to him, the State Government has never delayed the application of Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas – Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor) to build new pump houses to supply water to the residents of the three aforementioned places.

“What was said by Najib has nothing to do with the water supply disruption that is happening now. Najib may lack understanding regarding this situation because Najib wants to help his cronies.

“Tan Sri Rozali Ismail is Najib’s crony. This means that is his cronies do something wrong, Najib will not say that they are in the wrong.

“Najib is willing to blame the people and the Selangor State Government to defend his cronies,” he said during a working visit in Sarawak this evening.

The water supply disruptions involves 500,000 residents in the three areas who have had to get water for their daily tasks from Syabas water trucks.

Syabas said that the disruption problem may last up till the Chinese New Year.

In the meantime, Abdul Khalid also challenged Najib to see for himself, the water supply in Selangor by calling the National Services Commission (SPAN) which is responsible for managing water services.

Abdul Khalid said that Najib has also failed to perform his duties as Prime Minister professionally when he still points fingers at the State Government.

“The people no longer want cronies, the people do not want corruption, the people do not want Umno-BN to continue to fool the people,” he added.

Last Saturday, Najib claimed that the water supply problem in Selangor is getting worse due to the refusal of the State Government to approve the building of additional pump stations and to not give a development order to the Federal Government.

Prior to this, Najib claimed that the Selangor Government likes to point fingers and blame others regarding the water crisis that is happening in Selangor.
