PETALING JAYA, 8 Jan: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim seeks clarification from the top leadership of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) regarding allegations of the transfer of army battalions to several places in the capital city and some rural areas.

Anwar informed that the information shows that the 13th General Elections (GE-13) is drawing closer.

He hoped that this matter is not meant to scare the people seeing that there is a surge in positive support towards Pakatan Rakyat.

“I consider this as a normal movement and I hope the military leadership will give an explanation so that this is not associated with an attempt to scare a portion of the people in this country,” he said in the Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council sitting.

He stressed that the important thing is that no party tries to manipulate security forces, especially as GE-13 draws near.

“Therefore we do not want any party to use security forces for the purpose of the election,” he added.
