PETALING JAYA, 25 JAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak should take action against Perkasa President, Ibrahim Ali, for issuing provocative statement that threaten social stability in Malaysia.

Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Najib’s refusal to take action against Ibrahim shows poor leadership qualities.

“Things like this only happens because the leader is weak and is not brave enough to reprimand, and take action against such provocative speeches.

“If the leader is powerful, resolute and brave enough to take action against acts or conducts that clearly threatens public interest, this will not happen,” said Anwar in a media conference here.

It was reported earlier that Ibrahim Ali had issued a statement calling for Malay language Bibles that uses the word ‘Allah’ to be burned.

Elaborating, Anwar said that Pakatan Rakyat regrets and strongly opposes the threats made by Ibrahim who is the Pasir Mas Member of Parliament.

“We accept the differences of opinion among the people that are of various faiths and beliefs.

“However, we should also reveal differences of opinions through more civilised mannerisms, not by extreme provocations,” he further explained.

Previously, leaflets promoting Bible burning in Penang on 27 January was also actively circulated but until now, no one has claimed responsibility for the distribution of those leaflets.
