PETALING JAYA, 5 Jan: PKR is ready to contribute the conquest of 60 Parliamentary seats to secure Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) joint victory in the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

This confidence was voiced by PKR Deputy President Azmin Ali in his keynote address when officiating the PKR Simulation and Election Briefing jointly organised by the State Leadership Council and the Selangor State Elections Committee.

According to him, this matter was stated to the Central Leadership Council based on the party’s performance review at several Parliaments, particularly seats represented by PKR in 2008 and several additional seats to be contested.

“From the simulations we carried out, audits based on party membership, works in the past year, some information from NGOs,, there are some new areas that we have strong enough support and strength.

“When we look at it as a whole, in the Central Leadership Council (yesterday) we have confirmed and identified 60 areas contended by PKR which we, God willing, will win in GE-13,” he said when met at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Civic Hall.

Speaking before almost 300 PKR staff, Azmin stressed that PR is no longer discussing the question of being a strong opposition although being denied two-thirds majority of Parliamentary seats, instead is focusing fully on efforts to take over Putrajaya.

In GE-12 in 2008, PKR managed to win 31 Parliamentary seats out of the overall 97 Parliamentary seats which were contested.

Meanwhile, this Gombak Member of Parliament also claimed that according to information obtained, the Prime Minister, hwo is also the Umno President will potentially appoint Rompin MP, Datuk Seri Dr Jamaludin jarjis as the head of the Umno War Room to breakdown all attacks and issues brought by Pakatan Rakyat in GE-13.

Azmin added that the situation clearly shows that Umno is barren of competent leaders in efforts to restore the people’s confidence in them.

“That is Umno’s problem (Jamaludin Jarjis’s appointment) in indicating that they have no competent figures and no good ethics in leading the Umno soldiers.

“Like the information that we gathered, they will recycle denigrations that has been launched for 15 years in the upcoming General Elections.

“All this does not dampen my spirit and commitment as well as the Opposition Leader (Anwar Ibrahim) as well as leaders of PKR. We are certain that the people want a new government that is responsible and trustworthy and is concerned with the people’s affairs.I am quite optimistic that we will achieve an overwhelming victory in the upcoming General Elections,” he added.
