PETALING JAYA, Jan 11: PKR will be mobilising the ‘Cut Rozali Ismail’s Salary’ campaign for his failure in managing Syabas to the point of causing people trouble, said PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli.

“This team of lawyers will be headed by Latheefa Koya and the action to sue Syabas was decided after taking into account several aspects. We find that the water problem in Selangor is a political sabotage that is ultimately burdening the people.

“We will also launch a campaign to urge for RM10 million of Syabas’ Executive Chaiman’s (Tan Sri Rozali Ismail) salary to be cut out of his RM17.25 million per year salary package which he receives.

“The deduction will be donated to a special fund to provide compensation to affected residents. The campaign will be held in front of the Syabas headquarters in Shah Alam next Wednesday,” he said in a media conference at the PKR headquarters here, today.

He added that the reason Syabas is trying to politicise the issue by claiming that there is not enough supply of treated water and is pointing fingers at the Selangor State Government can be deemed as completely ridiculous when Syabas is actually capable of attaining water supply which is delivered through tankers.

In the meantime, Rafizi also claimed that it is an Umno-BN political game to sabotage the water supply in Selangor to arouse hatred of the people against the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) administration.

Thus, PKR will implement several measures to face the political sabotage, including spending its own money to buy water pumps to be supplied to areas requiring it.

“Apart from that, we will also hold negotiations with Syabas and also the local authorities (PBT) to gain commitment so that water supply delivered through trucks are sufficient and according to a fixed schedule.

“A group of experts who have been involved in planning and developing the water system in the Klang Valley will be established on a voluntary basis to review the technical aspects and to answer accusations by Syabas as well as to hold an information campaign in areas affected to inform the residents that the real mastermind is Umno-BN,” he added.

PKR will also set up a team of lawyers to sue Syabas and Puncak Niaga Holdings Berhad in the near future for the failure of the companies in supplying the best quality water to consumers, as promised.

PKR will gather as many residents, traders and those who wish to claim compensation from Syabas and Puncak Niaga to join in this lawsuit.
