KUALA LUMPUR, 30 JAN: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) staff on duty for the elections have been reminded to not leave polling centres until the process of votes counting is completed to prevent any fraud from happening during the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

This stern reminder was voiced by PKR President Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who believes that preparation works for fraud has certainly been planned by irresponsible parties in efforts to stop PR from winning Putrajaya.

Looking back at the atmosphere during the recount of votes at the Permatang Pauh Parliamentary elections in 2004, she said that such matters should be a lesson apart from the experiences of Muslim fighters in the Battle of Uhud.

“Everyone should be careful, do not allow fraud to happen again during this General Elections.

“Party members, do not leave your posts. Be sure to follow the ballot boxes to prevent cheating,” she said during the GE-13 Fundraising Dinner organised by the Lembah Pantai PKR.

During the counting of votes in GE-11, Dr Wan Azizah who was contesting for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat was first defeated by a slim majority to Umno-BN candidate, Datuk Pirdaus Ismail.

However, after the recount was done, Dr Wan Azizah won with a majority of 590 votes.
