SHAH ALAM, 31 JAN: The State Government wants the developer of Pangsapuri Indahria (apartments) to immediately implement reparation works to the building which is currently facing problems of land fissures causing structural cracks since a year ago.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that should the developer refuse to carry out the works, the State Government will direct the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to take over reparation efforts.

MBSA will then claim payment from the developer for the cost of repair.

“We have asked the developer to repair the problem of cracks that have occurred and if the developer does not take any action, I will instruct MBSA to carry out reparation works.

“However, all maintenance costs will be handed over to the developer to settle,” he said in a press conference after launching the E-Gems Social Management System at the Silver Jubilee Auditorium at the State Secretariat Building today.

He added that the appropriateness for the residents to continue to occupy the apartment will only be decided by the Shah Alam Mayor.

Previously it was reported that about 1,000 residents at the said apartments feared for their safety when land fissures at the building site were getting more serious.

The cracks is believed to be attributable to land fissures at the parking area adjacent to the 15-storey apartments, which caused the parking area’s structural column to tilt.
