Batu Tiga Constituency Allocates RM200,000 To Upgrade Mosque, Surau

SHAH ALAM, 23 FEB: The Batu Tiga constituency (DUN) allocated RM200,000 for infrastructural development of 15 mosques and suraus in the area since 2011.

Welfare, Women’s Affairs, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture Exo, Rodziah Ismail said that it is the largest specific DUN allocation to enhance convenience and comfort in every Islamic house of worship in Batu Tiga.

She said that the infrastructural development includes the construction of toilets, upgrading funeral management, providing air conditioning and to correct the access routes for Muslims.

“I am prioritising this issue because there are more than 70 percent of Muslims in Batu Tiga. When this provision is given, we can see many mosque programmes rapidly being carried out,” she said at a press conference here at the Batu Tiga DUN Office this morning.

She added that to date, the Batu Tiga DUN has 26 mosques and 36 suraus in total, where upgrading will be implemented in stages.

In the meantime, Rodziah also informed that on her side, they have already identified a site in the vicinity of Section 20 as the construction location for a new mosque for local residents.

She said that the mosque which is expected to accommodate a congregation of 5000 is to facilitate the public to carry out worship, especially during the Friday prayers.

However,she said that the matter is still in its initial planning and i will be submitted to the State Government to obtain a special allocation.

“I feel that my leadership here is to give priority to the comfort of the local residents, especially to Muslims who perform prayers.The Batu Tiga DUN not only has a high population density, but many visit the area.

“In fact, the State Government has also targeted more construction of mosques and I will make it (my) focus and also ask for a special budget to carry it out,” she said.
