SHAH ALAM, 8 FEB: Shah Alam Member of Parliament, Khalid Samad today refuted claims by some people that the Pakatan Rakyat Government allows the opening of nightclubs in Selangor.

Rather, he said, the alleged entertainment centres offering services of a nightclub was only a restaurant which opens from 8pm to 12am.

“It is similar to ‘The Ship’ or ‘Hard Rock Cafe’ and it can be visited by the whole family.

“We have already visited the place and found that the place is not a nightclub as previously claimed,” explained Khalid in a press conference at his office this afternoon.

However, Khalid admits that the restaurant serves liquor and is dimly lit.

“In fact, they already have obtained licence from Customs to sell hard liquor on their premises,” he added.

Khalid also stressed that the premises is located in Setia Alam and not Shah Alam as claimed by certain quarters.

Setia Alam is a new township which is different from Shah Alam, where almost 70 percent of its population are non-Muslims.
