Najib Pressed To Drop Objections So That Dr Porntip Can Help Sugumaran’s Family

SHAH ALAM, 14 FEB: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak and the government of Malaysia has been pressed to immediately appeal to the Thailand Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinwatra, to drop objections to receive services from Dr Porntip Rojanasunan.

This is to ensure that Dr Porntip’s expertise can be used in a second autopsy to find Sugumaran’s cause of death.

Sugumaran’s family lawyers consists of N.Surendran, Lateffa Koya and Sivarasa Rasiah are demanding explanation from Najib and relevant Malaysian governments regarding their involvement in this issue.

“Following these communications, the Thai government has decided that Porntip does not have to conduct the autopsy so as to not affect relations between the two countries.

“The Thai forensic expert had previously agreed to conduct a second autopsy on Sugumar after his family members rejected the results of the first autopsy,” claimed one of the lawyers in a joint press statement.

The explained that new information regarding the allegations behind Porntip’s withdrawal was obtained by them in writing recently.

He said that they were given information by a reliable source and that they have total confidence in the truth of the information.

Previously, the case had risen groundbreaking polemic indictment following claims that Sugumaran was beaten when he was arrested by the police on January 23 in Hulu Langat.

There have allegations from witnesses who saw the incident claiming that the victim was beaten to death while his hands were cuffed.
