PETALING JAYA, 26 FEB: PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli today urged the Selangor State Government to issue a Land Acquisition notice under the Land Acquisition Act 1960, for the land which is currently owned by the Federal Government.

The action should be taken to avoid the 223 acres of land to be handed over to the Selangor Wanita Umno Chief, Raja Ropiah Raja Abdullah, through Jendela Hikmat Sdn Bhd, a company owned by the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT).

According to Rafizi, Article 3.2 of the agreement between Awan Megah and Bakti Wira Sdn Bhd, companies owned by Raja Ropiah, Awan Megah will sign a land partnership agreement with Jendela Hikmat.

“I have written a formal letter to the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

“If this notice is issued, automatically Article 8.2 in the agreement will be effective and it is only appropriate for this whole transaction to be cancelled as provided in the agreement,” said Rafizi in a press conference which was held at the PKR headquarters in Merchant Square, Tropicana today.

Previously, the State Government surrendered the land to the Federal Government before the Federal Government gave the land to LTAT to build military camps and to fund various activities.

However, LTAT through several of its subsidiary companies, apart from failing to meet the required land developments, LTAT also tried to surrender the land to a company owned by the Selangor Wanita Umno Chief, altogether causing losses to soldiers and to the people.

In the 1960 Land Acquisition Act, the State Government has the power to take back the land if the involved parties are found to have breached the terms of the land acquisition or is detrimental to public interest.
