SHAH ALAM, 21 FEB: Selangor Shariah Court Judges reminded to not delay case decisions because there have been many complaints that divorce and property division cases have been taking too long.
His Royal Highness (DYMM) the SUltan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in his speech said that when the Shariah Court delays judgement, the lives of those involved will be interrupted.
He said that there have still been many complaints from the people of Selangor regarding divorce cases, division of matrimonial assets, alimony claims and division of property which have been taking too long for a court decision.
“I demur that all complaints and grievances submitted to the Shariah Court must be understood and to be acted upon immediately.
“Every complaint should not be taken casually because those making complaints require justice to carry on with their lives.
“Therefore, Judges of Lower Courts and the Shariah High Court must have a sense of humanity in dealing with such cases,” he added.
His Royal Highness said this during the Award Ceremony for the Appointment of the Standing Panel of Judges of Shariah Court of Appeal, Judges of the Shariah High Court and Judges of the Shariah Lower Courts of Selangor.
The ceremony which was held at Istana Bukit Kayangan, was also attended by the Selangor Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and the Selangor State Secretary, Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.
During the custom to bestow letter of acknowledgement, seven people were a[pointed as the Panel of Judges of the Selangor State Shariah Court of Appeal.
They are Tan Sri Ibrahim Lembut, Datuk Seri Md Yusup Che Teh, Datuk Aidi Moktar, Datuk Hussin Harun, Datuk Yusof Musa, Datuk Mahammad Ibrahim and Datuk Mohamad Abdullah.
Meanwhile, Yang Arif Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Yang Arif Abu Bakar Mohd Daud dan Yang Arif Mohamad Zakian Dio were appointed as Judges of the Selangor High Court.
Meanwhile Zainal Abidin Kusmin and Muhamad Hafiz Moksin were appointed as Judges of the Selangor Shariah Lower Court.
