SPIES Programme Assisted Selangor State Development

SHAH ALAM, 20 FEB: The Selangor Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional and Social (S.P.I.E.S) programme which started five years ago managed to train 101,239 people in this state through 1,252 programmes carried out.

According to Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, this SPIES programme contributed to the development of this state as the investment in the state of Selangor has increased in the last five years.

According to him, Selangor is ranked first with the highest contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state by contributing 23 percent.

“I am very grateful for your involvement in the past five years, (and) what has happened. Selangor has been developing increasingly in these five years.

“SPIES has taught us to contribute and your contribution is a part of our success,” he said after launching the Selangor SPIES Culturing at the Silver Jubilee Hall here at the Selangor State Secretariat Building.

These human capital development programmes are implemented according to several categories such as Teen SPIES, Youth SPIES, Student SPIES, Civil Servant SPIES, Educators SPIES, Community Leadership SPIES, Family SPIES, and Professional SPIES.

Education, Higher Education and Human Capital Development Exco, Dr Halimah Ali said that the module of this programme is designed based on SPIES philosophy which was developed by academics, theologians, and experienced consultants in the field of education.

“The SPIES module uses several education theories such as human development theory, philosophy of Islamic education, national education philosophy, Islam sociology and this module emphasises universal values and principles,” she said in front of 700 SPIES ambassadors from various fields.

She said that it is hoped that this SPIES programme will be a model of human development for all people in the state in efforts to make Selangor a state of peace, prosperity and welfare.
