Student Activist Claims Being Beaten By Umno Thugs In Pekan, Pahang

SHAH ALAM, 12 FEB: A student activist, Ekhsan Bukhari Badarul Hisham claims to have been beaten by four men who admitted that they were Umno members when campaigning in Pekan, Pahang.

“I was pulled out of the car by thugs who admitted that they were Umno members and dropped me and (I was) beaten on the ground,” said Ekhsan Bukhari when recounting the incident that happened this morning in Kampung Datuk Keramat.

During the time of the incident, Ekhsan Bukhari and several friends were distributing “Students’ Hope For Malaysia” leaflets in the village which is located in the Pulau Manis constituency.

Ekhsan Bukhari claimed that the car he was in was suddenly stopped in the middle of the road by a Proton Gen2 car which the three men were in.

The men asked the driver of the car Ekhsan Bukhari was in to stop at the side of the road.

“They confiscated our car keys and asked for our identity cards to be photographed.

“After being cursed and threatened by them, another thug arrived on a motorcycle.

“The man then pulled me out of the car and dropped me,” he said when contacted by TV Selangor.

Ekhsan Bukhari claimed that all four men then went on to assault him.

He said that he was wounded at several parts of his body including a bloody elbow, the collar of his shirt was torn and the car he was in was dented at the side.

When this report was written, Ekhsan Bukhari was on his way to the police station to file a report.

Previously, it was reported that the 13th General Elections Student Movement (GM13) announced that they will be contesting in the 13th General Elections (GE-13) for the Pekan Parliament which is represented by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The activist group has been divided into smaller groups to distribute leaflets to every home in the Parliamentary constituency.
