Taman Sentosa Receives Affordable Housing

KLANG, 19 FEB: The State Government will build Affordable Housing (RMM) in Taman Sentosa and its surrounding areas to meet the needs of the people when the flood situation in the are is under control in the future.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the plan was made between the State Government and the developer after taking into account the value and potential of the area.

Abdul Khalid said that the demand for housing and commercial buildings in Taman Sentosa will increase after flood situations in the area is under control with the construction of a retention pond which will be completed later this year.

“Previously, planning undertaken did not follow proper procedures.

“We have given suggestions to the developer because apart from overcoming flooding it can increase the market value here,” said Abdul Khalid.

He said this at a news conference after the groundbreaking of the 19.562 acre Water Reservoir at Taman Sentosa yesterday.

Once completed, the reservoir will be able to reduce flooding in and around Taman Sentosa which stems from the lack of a proper irrigation and drainage system.

Other water reservoirs will also be built in Johan Setia, Jalan Tengku Kelana, Jalan Kebun Nenas, Klang Perdana and Bukit Tinggi.

On the same issue, the State Government will also address the Sungai Rasau flood problem in Shah Alam.

“We are trying to overcome this problem by raising the bridge in Batu Tiga to facilitate the flow of water, especially during the event of flooding.

“The State Government will see that the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) make plans to totally overcome flooding (problems),” he said.
