PETALING JAYA, 27 Mar: Pakatan Rakyat announced the official stance of the component party of unanimously rejecting the offer to appear on RTM for 10 minutes to explain the 13th General Election (GE-13) Manifesto.
PKR de facto Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the the 10 minutes offered by the Minister of Information, Culture and Communication, Datuk Seri Rais Yatim, is seen as mocking democracy and media freedom.
The offer by Rais is unfair because Umno-BN is given 23 hours and 50 minutes to promote their policies through the government media network.
“Umno-BN is given 23 hours 50 minutes, when the PR is only given 10 minutes, even that we do not know if it will be broadcast fully.
“If they provide fair space and independent media or spirit along those lines, we will certainly consider it,” he said in a press conference at the PKR headquarters.
In relation to that, Anwar said that PR has decided to move quickly in the GE-13 campaign to discuss joint programmes with PR states.
He said that PR will feature PR leaders in the programmes to rebut defamatory accusations thrown by Umno-BN.
