PETALING JAYA, 11 MAR: One of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s lawyer said that the Attorney General (AG) had to review and withdraw the appeal on the sodomy II case decision after the disclosure by Saiful Bukhari’s father, Azlan Md Lazim.

According to Sivarasa, the AG does not have to proceed with the appeal of this case because the real focus is the things that happened behind the alleged claims by Saiful Bukhari, that it carried out till the court stage.

“It is useless for the attorney general to waste time and public money to proceed with this appeal.

“Right now, our focus is more towards what actually happened in this case and how this investigation charges ran up to the courts,” he said at the PKR headquarters today.

According to him, a special investigation should be established to investigate the disclosure by Azlan who stated that this sodomy II case is an evil conspiracy to bring down Anwar, the PKR leader.

Azlan made the claims in 8 March and stated that the case is a conspiracy made by Federal Government officials.

He said that Azlan’s charges is a serious matter because it involves lawyers and special officers to the Prime Minister himself.

“He (Azlan) gave specific examples in all press releases issued by him, which were written by Khairul Annas Jusoh or the lawyer (Zamri Idrus) appointed by him, he only read them.

“These are serious allegations and a specific investigation, perhaps in the form of a royal commission, should be formed to open an investigation and review how these accusations began.

“Who is the mastermind, and what is Khairul Annas’s role, is there any relationship with the Prime Minister himself,” said Sivarasa who is also the Subang Member of Parliament.

On 9 January, Anwar Ibrahim was acquitted of sodomising his former aide, Saiful Bukhari, by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

However, the Attorney General’s Office has filed an appeal against the court decision.1
