Educated Women Can Spur Change

SHAH ALAM, 9th MAR: Every single womn in Selangor is advised to equip themselves with knowledge. integrity and skills in effort to spur change not only within the state but across the country.

According to Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut,wife of the Chief Minister, educated women have a huge responsibility to shape the country’s governance and respectability.

She urges women to use their influence, creativity and innovative energies in a wise and effective manner to inspire change.

“ Women are Eve, capable of making or breaking anything which is why it is all the more important for women to equip themselves with skills that will add to their respectability.”

“Only 10% of women are included in the educated group and the State Government provides leadership opportunities for women.”

“We hope that the numbers will continue to increase to prove that women have the power to create change,” she said during her inauguration of the International Women’s Day 2013 celebration at Dataran Kemerdekaan,Shah Alam this morning.

The theme was ‘Women are the Determinants of Change For the Peace and Security of Humanity’ and the function was made merry with a demonstration by Chef Yang Jamil, a self-defence demonstration and shows by guest artists.

Also present was wife of PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail; Education, Higher Education and Personal Development Exco Dr Halimah Ali and Health, Estate Workers, Poverty and Caring Governmentality Exco Dr Xavier Jayakumar.

Welfare, Women’s Affaires, Technological Science, Innovation and Culture Exco Rodziah Ismail stressed that women should not confine themselves to being followers but need to become leaders to determine the vision which the country should aim for.

Mizrah Mohd, 40, received the message well and will work to become more active in raising the honour of women within government administration.

According to her, it is to prove that women are also competitive and are able to throw in creative ideas to spur change together within the State.

“I ask all groups of women including myself to believe in our abilities and to strive for success. May both man and women work together to protect women and non to disparage women.”
