Jom Shopping For Single Mothers A Means Of Distributing State Wealth

Ijok, 3 Mar: The State Government’s efforts in introducing the new ‘Single Mother’s Job Shopping’ programme is seen as an apt medium to help ease the group’s financial burden.

Small stall owner, Siti Junaidah Ahmad Supaat, 35, praised and thanked the State Government for this effort, which according to her, should be taken advantage of by all single mothers.

“Although it is seen by some as little, with prudent spending, there is a lot that we can get with the voucher given,” said the single mother who received such assistance for the first time.

Meanwhile, another single mother, Norzihan Kaswin, 50, said that this programme is one of the proofs that obvious changes have been seen since the administration of the Pakatan Rakyat Government in Selangor for the past five years.

“We are able to see that this (the current State Government) is better, various programmes have been provided for the people.

“Hopefully this efforts for the betterment of the people will continue to be carried out so that the people can continue to benefit from the wealth of the State,” said the mother of two.

Approximately 80 single mothers from the Ijok constituency were taken to buy necessities at the Econsave Supermarket in Alam Jaya here, accompanied by the Chief Minister himself, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who is also the Ijok Assemblyman.

Each of them received a shopping voucher worth RM100.

“There is among our efforts so that the people can enjoy yields that we obtained from this state and not just profits which are given to certain quarters only,” said Abdul Khalid in a speech.

Also present was his wife, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad,Bukit Melawati Assemblyman, M. Muthiah and Executive Director of Econsave Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd, Lai Sia Ling.
