SHAH ALAM, 8 Mar: The State Government has provided an allocations loan to each Local Authority (PBT) to improve or develop sports facilities.

The initiative aims to improve the quality of athletes in Selangor, said Youth and Sports Exco, Ahmad Yunus Hairi.

“We understand that to provide sports facilities requires great expenses, therefore the State Government decided to grant loans to any local authority.

“With that, the local authorities may increase facilities such as fields and so on,” he said.

He said this at the Presentation Ceremony for the Sports Team Manager Wakitah Appointment and the Presentation of Sports to the 16th Sukma Godfather here yesterday.

In the meantime, he hopes that the foster parents programme will benefit the state team in facing the 16th Sukma (Malaysia Games) which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in the middle of this year.

“Hopefully this time, Sukma can restore the nostalgia of the Selangor team’s glory days, as they were last victorious in the games in 2006,” added Ahmad Yunus who is also the Sijangkang Assemblyman.

Since Sukma was introduced in 1986, Selangor emerged champion seven times followed by Terengganu, four times, Sarawak, three times and Kuala Lumpur, once.
