Yesterday, the Groundbreaking Ceremony was performed by Selangor Chief Mininster, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Also present was the Housing and Squatter Development Exco, Iskandar Abdul Samad, Kampung Pandan JKKK Chairman, Abu Hanidah Abdul Rahman as well as the locals.

It is understood that this new hall was built in the open for the first phase and the people from the Cempaka constituency will make an application for supplementary funding for the second phase of adding structure for a closed hall equipped with air conditioning.

Tan Sri Abdul Khalid said in a brief speech that the State Government is more comfortable in providing adequate funding before making any announcement on the infrastructure development for the people.

“Iskandar is consistent in wanting to know the needs of the people. If we want to promise, we must give funding first, and then only can the hall be built,” he said during the Thanksgiving Ceremony in conjunction with the construction of the new hall in Jalan Medan Kampung Padan (Jalan H), Kampung Pandan Dalam.

“So tonight if I said I was coming just to say that ‘I want to build a hall’, I don’t want to.

“It is a waste of the villagers’ time. When I come, MPAJ would have already had the funds, a contractor is hired, then the Chief Minister can come and tell the people that they can check this issue.”

The Selangorku Grant was created by the State Government as a result of debt collection from Talam Corporation worth RM390 million which was previously ignored by the Umno-BN administration.

The proceeds will be returned to the people through infrastructure improvement programmes in Selangor.
