TANJONG KARANG, 12 Mar: 40 years ago, Mohd Daroji Jayos was still single, and today is the most beautiful moment for him, his wife Umi Kalsum, 51, and his three grandchildren when he was finally given legal ownership to the land which he has been occupying for all these years.

At the age of 60, Daroji promised to use the land as well as possible in the interest of his grandchildren.

Meanwhile, for his wife, there has been nothing that she has been more grateful for since she was married for all these years, when this dream finally materialised under the administration of the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Government.

“I am very grateful for this grant and today will be a memorable date (because) after having three grandchildren, only now have we been given the grant of the land which was cleared by my husband since he was still a bachelor,” she said.

Previously, the Umno-BN leaders often gave sweet promises in relation to the land ownership grant in Kampung Seri Tiram Jaya.

Another resident, Mohamad Amir Katijan, 58, praised the efficiency of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who managed to resolve the problem in a short period of time.

Although the PR Government has only administered Selangor for five years, its efficiency in solving the ongoing land problem has proven its attentiveness towards the importance of people’s rights.

He said that he has been waiting to receive the land grant for a long time since clearing the area in the 1970s, when the land was represented by BN Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Noh Omar, who was only ‘good at making promises’ which never came to pass.

“Alhamdulillah, for waiting almost 40 years, until my child is now more than 20 years old,” he said.

He was met by TV Selangor after the Kampung Seri Tiram Jaya Land Ownership Granting Ceremony was held in Tanjong Karang, and the grants were presented by Abdul Khalid at the Seri Tiram Jaya Hall.

He said that he faced many challenges when clearing the area, with many of the agricultural being damaged due to animal attacks and terrible road conditions.

“Thanks be to Allah who has bestowed this result. Now we are relieved because we have received the grants and our children can stay in this land which is over two acres,” he said.

Meanwhile, Isnan Selamat, 57, said that he was grateful for the grant because he has become weary after clearing the land, with a variety of challenges and obstacles, and his dream has finally become a reality.

“With the administration of Pakatan Rakyat, this grant has finally been given (to me) and I would like to thank the State Government in accelerating the process of granting land titles,” he said.
