Youth Ready Movement ‘Captures’ BN Fortress With General Assembly, Collects 1KM Signatures

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Mar: The ‘Gelombang Anak Muda Tolak Umno-BN’ (TOLAK or Youths Rejecting Umno-BN Wave) will be holding a tour to parliament areas controlled by Umno-BN to raise the awareness of the youth on the importance of rejecting the coalition in the upcoming election.

TOLAK, supported by 26 NGOs, will hold a Youth and Student Assembly, Premier Talk and will be collecting 1 Kilometer of signatures to prove that the people of Malaysia reject Umno-BN as government administrators.

Among the NGOs supporting this includes the National Felda Settlers’ Children Association (ANAK) and Youth Solidarity Malaysia (SAMM).

According to the Chairman of TOLAK, Azan Safar, TOLAK will expose the weaknesses, failures and injustice of Umno-BN and altogether put pressure of those during the final phase before GE-13.

“The tour will kick off on 5 April and will only be using public transportation or walk to one place to another as a symbol and to express protest against Umno-BN.

“The banner with signatures of the people of Malaysia will be presented in the finale in Kuala Lumpur on 13 April,” said Azan during the press conference held at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall this morning.

Other events held include a Youth Festival with busking and a shadow puppet show.

During the same press conference, the Co-Chairman of the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH 2.0), Datuk A. Samad Said also expressed his support for the tour by reciting a poem entitled ‘Nation Hunters’.”

Apart from A. Samad, also present at the press conference was ANAK Assistant Secretary, Fadhil Osman.

Perak – 5 April 2013 (Friday)
Penang – 6 April (Saturday)
Sarawak – 7 April 2013 (Sunday)
Terengganu – 8 April 2013 (Monday)
Kelantan – 9 April 2013 (Tuesday)
Pahang – 10 April 2013 (Wednesday)
Johor – 11 April 2013 (Thursday)
Malacca – 12 April 2013 (Friday)
Kuala Lumpur (finale) – 13 April 2013 (Saturday)
