KLANG, 26 Apr: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim believes that his experience and service in becoming a Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak over the past five years will help him defend the seat for another term.

Although he will be facing three other contenders, Abdul Khalid is confident that the voters will evaluate his performance, experience and capability as a representative of the people to be the yardstick in the 13th General Election (GE-13).

“My experience and network is bigger and I am also capable in solving problems.

“I do not just listen, and this has been proven and this is what is absent in the new faces,” he explained.

Commenting on his strategy to remain as Chief Minister, even more so when facing his opponent, Tan Kok Eng (BN) who is said to be friendlier with young voters, Abdul Khalid said that he is confident that the group is smarter in making a choice.

“They (young people) do not want to see friendliness, what they want to see is whether (candidates) can work for them or not,” he added.

Apart from Kok Eng, the Selangor Chief Minister also faces opposition from two other independent candidates, Mohd Sukeri Abdul Samat and Mokhtar Salahudin.

In 2008, Abdul Khalid defeated his rival, Datuk Tan Chai Ho (BN) with a majority of 2,515 votes after having secured 28,123 votes.
