Former KAGAT Director, Former Ambassador General Joins PAS

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Apr: PAS announces the participation of two new figures to strengthen the party machinery in facing the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

Former Director of the Religious Corps of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) Brigadier General (Rtd) Datuk Najmi Ahmad and former Malaysian Ambassador in Saudi Arabia and Iran, Datuk Adnan Othman, have joined PAS and the announcement was made by PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Najmi is the younger brother of former PAS Vice-President, Datuk Mohd Nakhaie Ahmad, was also announced to be contesting in the Baling Parliament.

Having served for 28 years in the Malaysian Armed Forces and the government, Najmi is a graduate of the Al Azhar University, majoring in Shariah.

He joined the Religion Division of the ATM in 1979 and become the Director of the Religious Corpse of the ATM in 1986 before retiring in 2006.

Datuk Adnan Othman comes from Marang, Terengganu and is a graduate of the University of Exeter, England, majoring in Political Science and served in China when Malaysia first established diplomatic relations with the Chinese government in 1974.

In addition, he worked in Canada and Singapore and served on a contract basis as the High Commissioner to Canberra, Australia in 2001 before retiring.

Earlier, Abdul Hadi also officiated the PAS Media Centre in conjunction with the GE-13 at the PAS General Office.

Also present were PAS Secretary General, Datuk Mustafa Ali and PAS Information Chief, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
