Former Police: Lahad Datu Invasion Confusing

SHAH ALAM, 1 Apr: Former Director of Criminal Investigation from the Bukit Aman Police, Datum Fauzi Shaari, described the armed invasion in Lahad Datu, Sabah, as being confusing.

According to him, this is because the police, through the Special Branch, have a capable intelligence system if the follow the standard instruction set especially in dealing with enemies who threaten national security.

“The terrorist aggression in Sabah is very confusing because of how they were able to penetrate the national defense security stage.

“How could they (armed terrorist) come simultaneously and bypass national defense?

“This simultaneous invasion should then be addressed by the Army,” said Fauzi.

Meanwhile, PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said that the invasion incident that took place in Sabah is due to political failure shown by Umno-BN leaders in handling the situation and taking preventive action.

“We see how vulnerable the country’s defense system is due to errors made by political leaders.

“The invasion that happened shows that there is something wrong,” he said.

The forum also featured three former high-ranking military officers; Lt.Gen. (Rtd) Datuk Abd Ghafir Abd Hamid, Brig.Gen. (Rtd) Datuk Abd Hadi Abd Khatab (RMAF) and First Admiral (Rtd) Imran Abd Hamid (RMN).
