SHAH ALAM, 18 Apr: Selangor BN is deemed to have to swallow their own ego and arrogance when they intend to continue giving free water to the people in this state if they manage to capture Selangor in the 13th General Election.
Kuala Selangor Parliament PAS candidate, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said this BN manifesto offer clearly contradicts with the party’s previous stance of saying that giving free water to the people can bankrupt the state.
He stressed that the offer also shows that BN is once again trying to plagiarise the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) manifesto right from the Federal level to the state level, Selangor in particular.
“If their claim that the country will go bankrupt because of the PR manifesto, then why are they copying our manifesto at the Federal and State level which would bankrupt the country and state?
“Seeing that during the early administration of PR, they made various criticisms and one of them being that the provision of free water will only be a loss to the State Government.
If that was the criticism, why is BN still imitating Selangor PR programmes and policies,” he said when contacted by TVSelangor.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) in a statement on 3 June 2011 asserted to not recommend to the Central Government regarding the granting of 1000 litres of free water to the people, claiming that it is not beneficial.
However, Selangor BN through the GE-13 manifesto intends to continue the granting of free water to the people of this state if they manage to capture Selangor from PR.
He added that if the BN government really want to help the people, then the offer of free water should be extended to every corner of this country.
However, he does not believe that the effort is possible due to the monopolistic and crony culture practiced by the Umno-BN administration.
