KUALA LUMPUR, 7 Apr: Umno-BN is accused of plagiarizing the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) manifesto which was completed much earlier to face the 13th General Elections (GE-13) this time.

PAS Secretary-General, Datuk Mustafa Ali said that based in the presentation made by BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Bukit Jalil Indoor Stadium last night, it clearly gave the impression that the Umno-BN manifesto is a plagiarisation of the PR manifesto in many areas.

“From what we have observed, many parts of the Umno-BN manifesto was plagiarised from the PR manifesto which was presented previously.

When PR presented this manifesto, Umno-BN leaders said that it would bankrupt the country but this is the same manifesto which was plagiarised by Umno-BN,” he said in a press conference today.

He gave an example in the PR manifesto which promised a gradual reduction in car excise taxes with the aim of removing it completely in five years so that car prices will be more competitive in addition to creating a more competitive national automotive industry that can produce cars for as low as RM25,000 per unit.

Meanwhile Umno-BN, he claims, presented in their manifesto the National Automotive Policy (NAP) to reduce car prices gradually between 20 to 20 percent and to improve the competitiveness of the national car.

“Other examples such as the building of 150,000 affordable homes under the low-cost category (below RM75,000) and for the low-medium cost category (RM150,000 to RM250,000), which will be built in the first term of PR’s administration.

“Meanwhile, Umno-BN wants to build a million affordable homes involving both the public and private sectors, including 500,000 PR1MA homes,” he said.

Mustafa also touched on the offer of the 10 minute slot in recording to PR, which he deems as just ”for the sake of’ and how it does not reflect media freedom in this country.
