SHAH ALAM, 2 Apr: Umno-BN’s action of disputing the readiness of PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, of competing in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly shows the party’s fears of failing to recapture Selangor in the upcoming 13th General Elections (GE-13).
Political Secretary to the Selangor Chief Minister, Faekah Husin said this in a press statement when asked to comment on the statement by Selangor Umno Deputy Chairman of Relations, Datuk Seri Noh Omah, regarding Wan Azizah’s offer to compete in Selangor.
Faekah said that Noh should be more worried about his position and whether he will be listed or not as a candidate instead of focusing in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidates.
“One minute, he says Wan Azizah is being rejected by her own state, next he says Selangor PKR is forced to use Wan Azizah’s power to face the GE-13. Indirectly, Noh acknowledges that Wan Azizah’s name is feared by Selangor Umno-BN.
“Noh should worry about his own position because he was not appointed as the Deputy Director of Elections for Umno-BN, instead Datuk Seri Md Zin Mohamed was selected.
“Many have said that Noh was left out because of the trouble he as caused so much so that complaints of poor farmers have become difficult to hide. To cover up all his weaknesses, Noh is focusing on attacking Wan Azizah, a cowardly act done by a minister,” she said.
She also said Noh’s statement that Wan Azizah is running because she does not have faith in her own state is a panicked statement done without first checking.
She added that Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s decision to become the Selangor Umno-BN Chairman and appointing himself at the Selangor Director of Elections also clearly proves Umno-BN’s leadership crisis.
She stressed that Wan Azizah’s presence in the Selangor political arena adds to Umno-BN’s leadership chaos, a crisis which is becoming more apparent for the party.
“Umno-BN is yelling even though Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Wan Azizah have not made it clear yet if they are competing in Selangor.
“Looking and their continuous antice, it gives deep confidence that they are not confident of winning in Selangor although Najib is leading the Selangor BN machinery.
“Their antics also strengthens our belief that Wan Azizah will provide stiff competition in Selangor,” she said.
