PKR Candidates Chosen for Being Able to Bring Change to the Country

SUBANG JAYA, 18 Apr: Candidates submitted by PKR for the 13th General Elections (GE-13) are individuals with great potential to bring change to the country.

Azmin Ali said that PKR has put up 102 candidates for Parliamentary seats and 162 candidates for State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats throughout the country, except Sarawak.

The total seats covers 64 Parliamentary seats in the Peninsular, 21 in Sabah, 17 in Sarawak, and for DUN seats, the breakdown according to region will be announced tomorrow.

According to Azmin, the selected candidates are agents for change chosen based on their character, appearance, and they must prove that PKR is a party with a future in this election.

“They are not usual candidates, but they are agents of change, candidates of reform and, of course, their appearance, their character, their actions, must reflect that Keadilan is a party with immense potential,” said Azmin who is also the PKR Elections Director.

Azmin said this in a press conference after the Handing Over Ceremony for the Declaration of Keadilan Candidates at a hotel here in Subang Jaya today.

At the event, all candidates were given a message and the candidacy letter by PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Azmin, who is also the PKR Vice-President, said that there are still some DUN and Parliamentary seats that have yet to be finalised because of discussions with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties, PAS and DAP, are underway.

“We will continue negotiations this evening and we will finalise it this evening too to allow candidates to ready the nomination papers,” added Azmin who is also defending the Gombak Parliamentary seat and the Bukit Antarabangsa DUN seat.

During the last election, PKR contested for 97 Parliamentary seats and 178 DUN seats.

Seats won for Parliament in 2008 are 31 Parliamentary seat and 42 DUN seats.
