SHAH ALAM, 4 Apr: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has called all parties, especially Umno-BN to jointly abide by proper campaign ethics and to respect the process of democracy through the 13th General Elections (GE-13) campaign period.

Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that if all parties comply with election standards prescribed, security and peace in the country can be defended and irresponsible practices will be overcome.

In fact, he said, the transition of government will also be guaranteed to happen peacefully if PR wins the GE-13.

“Pakatan Rakyat has the confidence that the security forces will act professionally and fairly in ensuring public order and security throughout the campaign period.

“This is in tandem with the duties and responsibilities entrusted upon them by the Federal Constitution to protect the democratic process and to ensure that the people have the freedom to choose the government of their choice,” he said in a media statement.

He also called upon all Malaysians to use this golden opportunity to elect a new government that is not only capable of developing the country, but is also determined to cleanse the country from corruption and abuse of power.

He said that he is confident that the people will elect a government that acts fairly in all matters across all levels of society.

In fact, he once again extended an invitation to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to engage in a debate to enable the people to make the right choice before choosing a new government.

“Throughout the 12th Parliament, Pakatan Rakyat has presented obvious choices for the people with the offer of a comprehensive blueprint for economic, political and social reforms.

“In fact, all four states administered by the Pakatan Rakyat Government also have records to be proud of in terms of economic and social progress, accountability and transparency.

“We believe that the people are able to assess the positive changes that have and will be brought by Pakatan Rakyat,” he added.
