KLANG, 17 Apr: Malaysians have been asked to use this golden opportunity in the 13th General Elections (GE-13) to oust the Umno-BN government which is described to be the longest dictatorship in the world.

Co-Chairman of the People’s Voice of Malaysia (Suaram), K Arumugam said that for 56 years, the Umno-BN government is likened to have ‘colonised’ the country and all assets and wealth of the country have been snatched by leaders and cronies.

“I have studied that since the 1950s till now, among all countries that practice in the style of dictatorship, it was found that the worst country is Malaysia.

“Because only one party, Umno-BN, has ‘colonised’ the country for 56 years.

“They took over all government machinery and changed the law, they control the mass media and the minds of the people so that they can rob, plunder the country’s wealth and the loss is shouldered by the people,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) talk in Jalan Kebun, here at Padang Jawa last night and was attended by more than 1,000 people.

According to Arumugam the people have only one way to change the situation, which is to change the Umno-BN government during the elections on 5 May.

This is because, he said, the people are the owners of the assets in this country and not the leaders who practice corruption and abuse of power.

“Reports from the government show that 65 percent of the people, from all ethnic groups, including Malays, Indians, Chinese and others, are in the category of family income of less than RM3,000.

“Malaysia is a rich country, but why are the people still poor? Why?

“This is the question posed by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, where the nation’s wealth should be distributed equally to all ethnic groups,” he said.
