PETALING JAYA, 27 May: The people who object to the results of the 13th General Election (GE-13) should be prepared to head to Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) if the Election Commission (EC) continues to ignore claims of fraud and abuse of power which took place in the GE-13.
The call was issued by Youth Solidarity Malaysia (SAMM) Coordinator, Badrul Hisham Shaharin during the 505 People’s Voice Assembly which was held here at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) East Field last Saturday.
“If Wan Ahmad continues to play deaf, if Aziz freezes, if the EC plays deaf, the people will head to Dataran Merdeka,” he said and was welcomed with spirited shouts from more than 50,000 participants of the assembly.
He was referring to the EC Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof and his Deputy, Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar who were previously urged to resign from their positions following a crippled and distorted GE-13 process.
PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli prior to that also envisioned that another assembly will be held at Dataran Merdeka after this.
“It is enough as of now, and Insya-Ahha we will meet at Dataran Merdeka after this until all our demands are met by (Prime Minister Datuk Seri) Najib (Razak) and the EC,” he said.
According to him, if the people do not rise up and protest against fraud and abuse of power, the same thing will continue to happen in the future.
