Iskandar Samad: Umno-BN Betrayed Responsibility to the People

SHAH ALAM, 13 May: Betraying the responsibility of rulers to the people is not Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) culture, albeit different skin colour, religion or even political orientation.

Former Housing Executive Councillor for Selagor, Iskandar Abdul Samad said that the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat has provided affordable homes to the people in need regardless of religious background.

In fact, more than 100,000 land titles in Selangor were given by the Selangor Pakatan Government to those who qualify, including hard-core supporters of Umno-BN.

Iskandar said this in response to the complaints of the people of Terengganu who are now the victims of Umno-BN’s revenge.

Bernama reported that the Chief Minister of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said that no affordable homes will be built in areas won by Pakatan in the east-coast state.

“This is a betrayal because a government should serve every citizen in the state and to not only choose who will be given assistance by them,” said Iskandar when contacted by TVSelangor.

In the recent 13th General Election (GE-13), Terengganu BN retained the mandate to administer the state when they won 17 constituency seats while Pakatan won 15 constituency seats.

Out of the eight Parliamentary constituencies, BN won in Besut, Kemaman and Hulu Terengganu while Pakatan won in Dugun, Kuala Nerus, Marang and Kuala Terengganu.

He explained that the government should provide the best service and equal access to the people, because the government’s overall operations, even the Chief Minister’s, are borne by the taxpayer.

“In Selangor for example, we have the Ceria project, apartment and flat reparation projects. We perform reparations in all constituencies regardless if it is under BN or PR.

“We provide this assistance to all because it is the government’s responsibility. The government has to service the people because the people pay taxes,” said Iskandar.
