Najib Champion in Own Village, ‘Nervous’ Off UMNO Court

SHAH ALAM, 5 Dec: Umno President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, is like a champion who is strongly vocal in own village, but ‘nervous’ when outside the Umno ring.

Selangor DAP Secretary, Ng Suee Lim, said that until now, Najib has failed to debate openly with Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, despite many parties challenging him.

“Until now, there is no record for Najib, as the supreme leader of the government, debating with Anwar regarding issues of the people despite being many times challenged by Anwar, either before or after the 13th General Election (GE-13).

“This is an example of a leader who is a hypocritical and most cowardly when not brave enough to face Anwar. What more if he has to face leaders and forces from abroad,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini today.

Suee Lim said this when asked to comment on the keynote of the Umno President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Umno General Assembly 2013 which was held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur today.

In his speech, Najib descried himself as winning a badminton set against the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in the GE-13.

The statement issued by Najib was following BN’s success of forming the Federal Government by winning 112 out of 222 seats, when in fact; PR won the popular vote of 52 percent, compared to BN which only won 48 percent of Malaysia’s votes in the GE-13.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) also questioned the referee of the 13th General Election (GE-13) which clearly was pro-Barisan Nasional (BN).

Suee Lim said that the Election Commission (EC) which refereed the GE-13 was led by members of Umno, so, almost of the body’s actions were biased towards BN’s victory.

He said that this ploy was clear with the unfair re-delineation which was aimed at maintaining BN’s power to continue to ‘steal’ taxpayers’ money.

“This was acknowledged by the EC Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, that the EC’s work is to maintain Malay power in a statement recently.

“It is not that PR does not accept the fact, but with we are shocked with the revelation that the supreme leader of the EC is a member of Umno and they also did not deny the matter which was exposed before the GE-13. So, if the referee is an Umno member, how can we as players accept their decision,” he said.
