Selangorku Housing Project to be Launched by CM on 22 Feb

SHAH ALAM, 20 Feb: The Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) will hold a Launch and Ground-breaking Ceremony for the Selangorku Housing Project in Taman Ukay Indah, Sungai Sering, Mukim Hulu Kelang, Gombak, on 22 February (Saturday).

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, has been scheduled to inaugurate the ground-breaking ceremony which begins at 10.00am.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chief Minister (Incorporated), the Housing and Property Board and Ecoworld Development Sdn Bhd, is also scheduled to take place.

Also expected to be present is the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Housing, Building Management and Squatters, Iskandar Abdul Samad.

The Selangor Government will initiate the Affordable Housing project or the Selangorku Housing to provide an opportunity to the people in the state, especially those earning low and middle income, to own their own homes.

Previously, Abdul Khalid said that the Ground-breaking Ceremony is a pilot project and the construction is expected to commence within six months after the development approval and appointment of contractors is completed.

These Selangorku Housing will be built on a portion of land owned by Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), with an area of 28 hectares in Sungai Sering, Hulu Kelang, as the demand for affordable housing is very high in the area.

Over 2,000 housing units will be built through this pilot programme consisting of three types of unit areas; 800 square feet, 900 square feet and 1,000 square feet.

The Selangorku Housing Pilot Project consists of eight blocks which will be built in four phases and is expected to be completed in six and a half years.

The overall cost for the Selangorku Housing Pilot Project is estimated at RM591 million, including the cost of building roads, upgrading suraus into mosques, building a sewage system and upgrading plumbing systems.

The construction of these Selangorku Housing units will be using the Industrial Building System (Pre-Fabicrated – IBS) to expedite the construction period compared to conventional methods.

This project is part of the 5,000 affordable housing units using the pre-fabricated method which are targeted to be built in 5 years, until 2018, from the overall 35,000 units targeted.
