Surendran: BN Fails to Fulfil Promises, Hindraf Betrays the Indian Community

SHAH ALAM, 10 Feb: The failure in fulfilling promises by Barisan Nasional (BN) has long been known to Pakatan Rakyat (PR), as their main political rival.

The move by the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, P Waytha Moorthy, who resigned from all posts held in the government and the Dewan Negara, is not surprising.

The Vice President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), N Surendran, said that the Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia (PHM) has long betrayed the Indian community, to a point of being in cahoots with BN and receiving positions in the government.

“Until now, BN has failed to help and improve the lives of the Indian community. We have long known that BN does not fulfil promises, as stated by Hindraf and Waytha.

“From the beginning we knew that Hindraf’s statement that BN will solve the problems of the Indian community was not true and was a scam by Najib and the party for the sake of fishing for votes from the Indian community.

“Waytha and Hindraf joining BN is a betrayal to the Indian community. It was only made for the political gain of Hindraf,” he told Selangor Kini today.

Citing media reports, the reason for Waytha’s withdrawal is because BN failed to fulfil promises in the memorandum of understanding between the two parties that signed it prior to the last general election.

He added that although Hindraf fought for the Indian community, they are actually a political party that was trying to profit themselves.

Surendran, who is also the Member of Parliament for Padang Serai, said that Waytha’s withdrawal from the government does not bring any changes to the Indian community and Malaysian politics.

“It does not have any impact on Malaysian politics. After this, the Indian community will not give their support to Hindraf as they entered BN and accepted the position of Deputy Minister.

“This was a desperate attempt by Hindraf and Waytha to obtain support from the Indian community. We are confident that this will not happen,” he said.
