CM: Selangor Plans to Ready Funds to Build Houses on the People’s Own Land

SHAH ALAM, 18 Apr: With house prices on the rise, the people of Selangor will have the opportunity to apply for State Government funds to build homes on their family land.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said however that the fund will only be opened in three years, while the current focus is on the construction of affordable housing.

He said that the State Government must use the RM100 million allocation from the reserves first for the success of the construction of affordable housing, which has been planned.

“We want to focus on affordable housing because allocation is expected to be over RM300 million.

“That is why we will first use the RM100 million, so after the repayment of purchase of affordable housing comes in, we can make it the capital for the next programme,” said Abdul Khalid at the State Assembly.

He was responding to a question from the Assemblyman of Tanjung Sepat, Mohd Haslin Hassan (BN) on the proposed establishment of a special fund to help those wanting to build a house.

Prior to this, the State Government announced an allocation of RM100 million to fund the Affordable Housing Programme or the Selangorku Homes, to provide opportunities to the people in this state, especially those earning a low to medium income, to own their own homes.

The Selangorku Homes pilot project is being developed on land owned by Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), with an area of 28 hectares, in Sungai Sering, Hulu Klang, as the demand for affordable housing is very high in the area.

Over 2,000 housing units will be built through this pilot programme, consisting of three types of unit areas; 800 square feet, 900 square feet and 1,000 square feet.
