CM: Projects that are dangerous and disadvantageous to the people can be cancelled

PETALING JAYA, 21 June: The Selangor Government will not hesitate to withdraw the approval of any project if it is proven that it is dangerous and disadvantageous to the people, including projects by the Federal Government.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that all development plans should comply with legal processes, local planning, public hearings, independent studies of public opinion and impact assessment studies from all aspects.

“Keep in mind that the State Government is always open to the development of infrastructure and public amenities, especially regarding matters related to communication and transport, as well as public works and utilities which are under the purview of the Federal Government.

“Be assured that the State Government will ensure compliance with the legal process, local planning, public hearings, an independent survey of public opinion, impact studies from all aspects and all other procedures, including the demand before any project is approved,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said this when launching the Petaling Jaya International Festival 2014, the Folklore Festival, at Jalan Yong Shook Lin last night.

Meanwhile, when commenting on the festival which was participated by local and international delegations, Abdul Khalid said that the festival, which takes place from June 17 to 22, is expected to attract thousands of visitors.

Abdul Khalid said that such events can provide a variety of benefits to the countries participating in various aspects such as multilateral diplomatic relations and economy.

Abdul Khalid, in his speech, also took the opportunity to invite local and international delegations that took part in this festival to visit Selangor during the Visit Selangor Year 2015.
