“The Selangor Government is of the opinion that privatisation should put the people’s interests first, especially in Selangor, because it involves tax funds paid by the people,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said that today that the MHA has already briefed the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) regarding the demand for highways in Selangor, including the KIDEX project.

He said that the MHA has explained that status of existing highways in the Klang Valley, as well as the justification to build new highways, based on the current and future traffic conditions.

“We have been informed that based on the MHA analysis, the Middle Ring Road II (MRRII) needs 10 new highways, the North Corridor needs 5 new highways, while the South Corridor needs 4 new highways in 2020.

“This analysis takes into account the existing public transport system, as well as those in the pipeline,” he said in a statement.

He said that the MHA also informed that public transport, roads and highways should be planned together to complement each other, to support the need for new development in Selangor.

In addition, he said that KIDEX Sdn Bhd also gave a briefing on the traffic impact assessment report and will submit the latest report to MHA in the next two weeks, before it is displayed to the public.
