MH17: Government should conduct a comprehensive investigation for justice

SHAH ALAM, 18 July: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) urged the Malaysian government to conduct a comprehensive investigation on the tragedy where the MH17 aircraft was shot down at the Russian-Ukrainian border last night.

The PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said that investigations into the tragic incident are necessary to allow the parties involved to be brought to justice.

“Our country and the world are shocked with the tragic news in the early morning of Friday, the 20th day of Ramadan, when the MH17 aircraft carrying 298 passengers and crew was reported to have crashed at the Ukraine-Russia border last night.

“The whole PKR family expresses our deep condolences to the families of all victims of this tragedy with prayers for everyone to remain patient and resilient in facing this though and challenging time.

“PKR also hopes that the international community, especially Russia and Ukraine, including the pro-Russia separatists in the area where the MH17 aircraft crashed, to provide full cooperation to the team of investigators and foreign rescue teams,” she said in a press statement today.

In the initial report from some news agencies, it was claimed that several witnessed at the incident said that the airliner was believed to have been shot down by parties who have yet been identified.

As of now, no one has claimed responsibility for shooting down the ill-fated aircraft.
