CM: No plans to appoint new Exco yet, Sultan advised to advance state

SHAH ALAM, 13 Aug: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, informed that he has no plans to appoint new State Executive Council members to replace the five Exco from PKR and DAP who were fired yesterday.

He said in a press conference after chairing the Exco meeting today that the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, advised him to maintain the present situation and focus on development and the people’s welfare.

“I have no plans to appoint a new Exco line-up and I have discussed with HRH the Sultan where he advised me to continue in the present circumstances to determine the strength of state work so that development is focused on and the welfare of the people is prioritised,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said that he has held talks with the Exco members to form a council together for all STANCO or portfolios involved so that the management and state procedures can be implemented properly.

Meanwhile, when commenting on the status of the State Economic Advisor which is still held by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he said that the matter will be discussed with the Exco later.

5.2

Abdul Khalid said that the status of the existing Council members will also be discussed in the Selangor State Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting and will be announced soon.

“The status of (our) Council members will be announced tomorrow after the MTES, but for now, we will focus on state development and smooth administration.

“If smooth administration does not require us to make a change, we will not do it, but there will be a change if we feel the need to,” he added.
