Hamfazlin Sham’s remains safely buried at 3.10 pm

BATU CAVES, 22 Aug: The remains of a crew member of the Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) MH17 flight, Hamfazlin Sham Mohamed Ariffin, was safely buried at about 3.10 pm at the Muslim Raudathul Sakinah Kl-Karak Cemetery in Taman Batu Muda today.

The late Hamfazlin, 37, was first prayed for at her family home in Section 6, Wangsa Maju, after her remains arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang at 12.50 pm.

Since early this morning, family members, neighbours and friends filled her family home to pay their last respects.

Her remains were then taken to the Usamah Bin Zaid Mosque to be prayed for again after the Friday prayers.

The clear weather witnessed a smooth burial and the coffin was covered with the Jalur Gemilang in a tribute ceremony organised by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

At least 600 people were present at the funeral.

She left behind her husband, Ahmad Tarmizi Ismail, 41, and two sons, Alif Haiqal, 8, and Alif Hazim, 1 year and 6 months old.

She was one of the nine crew members who were successfully brought home by a special MAS aircraft carrying the remains of 11 other passengers 37 days after the MH17 tragedy where the aircraft was shot down in eastern Ukraine while on route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on July 17.

The special aircraft landed in KLIA at 9.54 am this morning.

Meanwhile, Selangor Kini also visited another home of a crew member of the ill-fated aircraft, Angeline Permila Rajandaran, 30, in Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang.

However, the security guards at the main entrance of the housing area blocked the entry at the request of her family who are not yet ready to face the media.

The Chief Minster, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, also cancelled his intention to visit her family in honour of the request.
