Tun M should urge Najib to resign, not just reprimand him

SHAH ALAM, 20 Aug: The former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, should urge Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign as Prime Minister following his terrible performance that is far worse compared to Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The PAS Vice-President, Ustaz Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said that only criticising him by withdrawing his support for Najib does not have any effect on Najib because Mahathir is currently outside the government.

He said that because of Mahathir’s strong criticism, if Najib has dignity, Najib would certainly resign as the Prime Minister.

“Under the Umno-BN administration, the people are increasingly burdened by the rising cost of living and the increase in the national debt following the weaknesses of government leaders in economic management,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily,

Tuan Ibrahim said that at the same time, the Umno-BN government has also failed to reduce the number of criminal cases, in addition to failing to implement relevant laws with current demands even though the ISA was repealed because of its weak enforcement.

“The issue of crime does not just involve the law, but its enforcement should also be improved. In this case, we have to look at the big picture. Enforcement from the relevant commissions must also be improved,” he said.

According to Tuan Ibrahim, some of the weaknesses disappoint the people and is a strong reason for Mahathir to criticise and reprimand Najib because of his performance which is far worse compared to Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

“Tun Mahathir should continue as Prime Minister; he should not have stopped because his vision is still unfulfilled. If Tun Mahathir quits and appoints anyone to replace him, his vision, as outlined in Vision 2020, will not be achieved,” he said.
